練馬師 Moody 認為 Magnus & Takeover Target 狀態唔錯

Australian trainer Peter Moody reports Magnus is in fine fettle as he prepares to leave Melbourne for the $1million KrisFlyer International Sprint over 1200 metres on Sunday.

Magnus and “travelling companion” Takeover Target will be the last two international gallopers to arrive for the two big international races on Sunday.

Speaking on Melbourne radio station Sport 927, Moody said Magnus was in excellent order during his stay in quarantine at Sandown.

“He’s feeling too well,” Moody said. “He had a buck and a play and frolicked around on his own for a few minutes this morning.

“It’s a good sign that he’s feeling well in himself, but it was a bit of heart in the mouth sort of stuff before we could catch him and then go out and do our work.”

Magnus and Takeover Target fly out of Melbourne tomorrow morning and are due into Singapore around 4pm.

Moody said the entire was in excellent condition and providing he travels well is expecting a forward showing from the son of Flying Spur.

“They are never easy races to win,” Moody said. “The locals are always hard to beat on their own turf and then there is Takeover Target and Joe (Janiak). They are hard to beat wherever they go.

“But I don’t think the horse has been in any better condition throughout his career. I think he’s just kept on maturing.”

Providing Magnus runs well on Sunday, Moody is keen for the entire to again head to England for the Group 2 King’s Stand Stakes over five furlongs next month, a race he ran third in last year behind Miss Andretti.

“The option is there and we are very keen to go,” Moody said. “I think it could be in the horse’s best interests to again go to England before he is retired to stand at stud at Eliza Park and hopefully a successful stud career.

“I think we will do things a bit differently this year. He will go over a fitter more forward horse this year and we’ll be targeting just the one race,” he said.

Magnus is a five-year-old son of Flying Spur and has won four (including the Group 1 AJC The Galaxy over 1100 metres) of his 22 starts and has notched just over A$1.14 million in prizemoney.

Trainer Peter Moody is flying in on Thursday while rider Damien Oliver is not expected in until Sunday morning.
