There were no surprises when Weekend Hussler was named Australia's Racehorse of the Year for 2007-08.
He earnd the honour by equalling the record of Kingston Town with six Group One wins during the season.
Weekend Hussler earned 82 per cent of the overall votes to become the first horse to win the award in his three-year-old season since Octagonal in 1995-96.
Weekend Husler shared the awards spotlight with champion trainer Bart Cummings, who, at the age of 80, was elevated to Legend status in the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
Weekend Hussler's season featured Group One wins from 1100m to 1600m in the Caulfield Guineas Ascot Vale Stakes, Oakleigh Plate, Newmarket Handicap, Randwick Guineas and George Ryder Stakes.
He attained an outstanding TImeform rating of 130 and was rated by global handicappers among the the world's best on turf as a sprinter and miler.
Weekend Hussler was also crowned champion three-year-old colt or gelding but was beaten for the champion sprinter ward by five-time G1 winner Apache Cat.
