Leading rider Corey Brown will sit out Christmas after incurring a careless riding suspension from the night meeting at Canterbury last Thursday.
The suspension begins on December 15 and expires on December 30 and will certainly cost Brown the lead in the Sydney riding premiership.
An inquiry into Brown's riding of rain Game at Canterbury was completed at Rosehill on Saturday where he was found guilty of a careless riding charge.
Brown landed one win at Rosehill on Saturday but premiership rival Hugh Bowman landed two winners to draw level in their neck and neck battle for the riding premiership.
They are now level on 37 wins with Bowman certain to take advantage of Brown's two weeks absence from the saddle that will see him miss the Villiers Stakes and Summer Cup meetings at Randwick.
Brown will start the suspension after he rides Australian sprint star Apache Cat in Hong Kong next Sunday.
Darley's stable rider Kerrin McEvoy also incurred another suspension at Rosehill on Saturday for causing interference in the Festival Stakes aboard Spinney.
McEvoy was found guilty of permitting Spinney to shift in near the 1200m, hampering German Chocolate and taking that horse onto the favourite Causeyacan, which had to be checked and lost its running.
McEvoy was suspended for seven meetings from Monday until December 19, allowing him to return for the Villiers Stakes meeting at Randwick on December 20 and can think himself lucky as it was his sixth suspension since August.
Causeyacan's rider Danny Nikolic reported that he was not happy with the action of the Festival Stakes favourite over the final 50m when the gelding could not be fully tested while held up for a clear run.
Trainer Kevin Moses has been asked to provide stewards with an update on the progress of Causeyacan while a post race vet examination of German Chocolate revealed the gelding to have been galloped on above the off hock.
In Melbourne careless riding suspensions were handed out to Logan McGill and Brian Park at Caulfield.
