Echoes of Amelia’s Dream resounded at Rosehill today as More Joyous made easy work of the Furniture One Trade Show Feb 24 Handicap (1100m) to stamp herself Gai Waterhouse’s next Golden Slipper prospect.

After conspicuously missing the kick, jockey Nash Rawiller persisted with a run on the fence before pushing out to sit outside the leader Fauve.

She loomed closer rounding the bend and without persuasion from Rawiller, the filly comfortably drew clear before easing up on the line for a final winning margin of five and a quarter lengths from Big Birdie with Cleanup in third.

Last year Waterhouse’s early Slipper hope Amelia’s Dream demoralised a maiden group of two-year-old fillies in February when she skipped away for a nine-and-a-quarter length win.

“She very much similar to Amelia’s Dream to be able to muster that kind of speed under her own steam,” Waterhouse said.

“She’s very aptly-named this filly, she missed the start, I think Nash was having a cup of tea in the barriers but she mustered speed and managed to catch a bit of a breather.

“She was a bit green but what marvelous acceleration she showed.”
