羅偉力墮馬受傷,仲未決定下星期可騎 Weekend Hussler 爭蘭域堅尼

Brad Rawiller has ridden star three-year-old Weekend Hussler in a workout the Sydney way of going at Caulfield, the first time he has ridden since fracturing a rib in a race fall at Moonee Valley last Friday night.

However, the jockey is not certain he will resume race riding until Saturday week when Weekend Hussler goes after his fifth Group One victory in the Randwick Guineas (1600m).

His initial reaction was that he would return on Wednesday or Thursday this week, but he has already ruled out riding this weekend.

"I will continue riding Weekend Hussler in trackwork, but it might be a but foolish under race day pressure when it comes to the last 400 metres," Rawiller said at Tuesday's Melbourne launch of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

"I'm thankful to get out of it the way I did. It could have been worse."

Rawiller said he had an appointment with physio Pat Allen on Wednesday to have his back manipulated.

Trainer Ross McDonald said Weekend Hussler would be floated to Sydney early on Wednesday morning.

"He'll run in the Randwick Guineas on Saturday week and then he'll come back home and we'll take it from there," McDonald said.

When handicaps were released on Monday for the $1.8 million Doncaster Hcp (1600m) at Randwick on April 26, Weekend Hussler received 57.5kg which was 1kg more than McDonald thought he deserved.

"His only start at a mile against older horses was in the Emirates Stakes in which he finished 10th," he said.

However the weight didn't deter a punter who placed $12,000 on the gelding at $4 with TAB Sportsbet which immediately tightened him in to $3.40 favouritism.

Weekend Hussler has improved with each of the workouts he has had the right-handed way at Caulfield and Rawiller was happy with him on Tuesday morning.

"He cantered off on his Melbourne leg, but I got him on to his Sydney leg and he went well," he said.

Since the setback when his mount Kohl snapped a leg and fell at the Valley, Rawiller's focus is now firmly on Weekend Hussler rather than any thoughts of breaking the Australian record of 224 winners held by NSW jockey Allan Robinson.

The 29-year-old, who has ridden 148 winners in Victoria so far this season, needs another 18 to pass Nick Ryan's record of 165 wins on Victorian tracks with 4-1/2 months remaining.

He believes his initial goal this season of 200 winners is still well within reach.
