Champion jockey Damien Oliver will miss the opportunity to win consecutive Queensland Derbys after he was suspended and fined $2,000 for careless riding in the Doomben 10,000.
Oliver was outed for 10 meetings by Queensland Racing stewards for his ride on Vormista in the Group One race and will relinquish the Derby ride on Rough Habit Plate winner Mission Critical.
He pleaded guilty to the careless riding charge after he allowed Vormista to drift in passing the 900m when insufficiently clear of Reigning To Win, resulting in The Jackal and Hard To Catch both losing their positions.
Oliver won last year's Derby on Empires Choice and was on track to score back-to-back wins in the Group One feature on June 7 after he guided Mission Critical to victory in Saturday's Rough Habit Plate.
His 10-meeting suspension expires on June 9.
Brisbane jockey Jason Taylor will be free to ride Caloundra galloper Swiss Ace in the Stradbroke Handicap on June 7 despite also incurring a careless riding suspension at Doomben.
Taylor was outed for six meetings for his ride on Mr Slick in the Air New Zealand Plate and can return to riding the day before the Stradbroke.
