Royal Ascot conqueror Haradasun has entered quarantine in Europe in readiness for a return to Australia and making his stud debut at Coolmore this year.

Coolmore General Manager Michael Kirwan told TVN's Caroline Searcy he was keen to get the son of Fusaichi Pegasus back to Coolmore – where he was born and bred – and settled in before the start of the new season.

“We could have said let's keep going with him over there, but we had a lot of bookings to him and we have to be fair to the people who want to breed to him that we keep our word,” Kirwan said.

“He's coming to stud now and he's already in quarantine. We're looking forward to the season ahead with him.”

Kirwan said the Royal Ascot win down the straight mile was an important victory for not only Haradasun, but Australian breeding as a whole.

“It has been perceived that the only horses that went to Ascot from Australia were sprinters,” he said.

“The fact that we bought into this horse last year and we had a lot of confidence and the plan was to send him to Ireland when he had finished the spring down here.

“Subsequently he wins a Group 1 mile against a pretty smart field, including a couple of triple Group 1 winners.

“What he achieved over there was quite amazing and it sort of puts the spotlight on Australia as well – it shows we can produce sprinters and we can produce milers.

Kirwan said Haradasun was the latest example of how the shuttle concept is working and putting

“Everything now is starting to fall into place. People know now what's in Australia and what can come out of it,” he said.

“It's very important in promoting the Australian horse and the Australian stud.

“It all comes down to what has happened in the last 20 years or so (with the shuttle program).”
