Group 2 winner Shaft has been retired to begin a stud career at Darley Australia.
The winner of last year's SIlver Slipper Stakes will begin stud duty this spring, becoming the latest son of Flying Spur to embark on a breeding career.
SHaft cost $700,000 as a yearling at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale and retirs as the highest rated two-year-old colt by Flying Spur.
He did what few youngters have achieved in recent times by winning the G2 Silver Slipper at Rosehill on debut, beating high class colts Husson Lightning and Murtajill.
He went on to finish third in the G2 Todman Slipper Trial behind champion two-year-old Meurice and was then beaten two lengths behind his stablemate Forensics in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.
He raced only three more times as a three-year-old and retires with prizemoney of $213,000.
His appeal at stud lies in his pedigree as he from one of the best families in the Australian Stud Book.
His dam Traceable is a daughter of the four-time G1-winning sprinter Tracy's Element and his third dam is the remarkable Princess Tracy, the dam of five stakes winners and grandam of a further seven stakes winners.

"Winning a race like the Silver Slipper at his first ever start shows just how talented he was.
"He'll make a stallion," said Darley general manager Ollie Tait.
