No Wine No Song no Melbourne Cup chance

Kevin Moses’s Melbourne Cup dreams have been put on hold after No Wine No Song was struck out for the better part of the Spring, with the Sydney Morning Herald reporting the multiple metropolitan winner is languishing with a displaced bowel.

A veteran of 45 starts for nine wins, No Wine No Song was discovered to have suffered the ailment on Monday, and has pulled up with no internal damage after being operated on yesterday in Moses’s presence.

"It was the worst day of my life," Moses's wife, Jenny reported to the Sydney Morning Herald’s Craig Young yesterday.
"We love him to death, Kevin couldn't even speak on Monday.

"The vets can't tell us why it happened.”

Moses was able to confirm with Racenet on Monday that Sydney Cup winner No Wine No Song would not start in the Warwick Stakes, but it is unlikely the Song of Tara seven-year-old will line up again until the latter part of the spring.
