Sydney racing will suffer an exodus of leading jockeys to Melbourne on Saturday.
Nash Rawiller, Jim Cassidy and Danny Nikolic have been lured to Melbourne for the Manikato Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley.
The Moonee Valley meeting features the $350,000 Manikato Stakes, $350,000 Dato Tan Nim Chan Stakes and $200,000 W.H. Stocks Stakes in opposition to the Rosehill meeting where the highlight is the $200,000 Theo Marks Stakes.
Rawiller has two prime bookings at Moonee Valley for the
Gai Waterhouse-trained mare Tuesday Joy in the Stocks Stakes (1600m) and Galaxy winner Typhoon Zed in the Manikato Stakes (1200m).
Rawiller takes up the ride on Tuesday Joy for the rest of the spring after Dwayne Dunn handled the mare in her first-up eighth in the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 30.
Typhoon Zed is a new ride for Rawiller. Corey Brown has ridden the Tim Martin-trained sprinter in his last three starts since he resumed in July including his last start win in the Concorde Stakes at Rosehill.
Typhoon Zed is making his fourth trip to Melbourne where his six starts have produced a Flemington win and four placings in high class sprint races including a second in the G2 Salinger Stakes last spring.
He has raced once at Moonee Valley for a third over 1000m last September.
Dan Nikolic has been snapped up by Caulfield trainer Mick Price as the replacement rider for classy sprint mare Bel Mer in the Manikato Stakes.
Craig Newitt lost the Bel Mer ride when he was suspended for the fourth time this year at Flemington on Saturday.
Bel Mer resumed with an impressive win over 1100m at Caulfield on August 30.
Jim Cassidy will make his first Melbourne appearance since his return to riding from injury when he partners the Graeme Rogerson-trained Arlington in the Manikato Stakes.
Arlington, a half brother to Cox Plate winner
Savabeel, has been set for a first-up tilt at the Manikato after an impressive barrier trial win at Warwick Farm on August 29 when he was ridden by Cassidy.
Arlington has won only once in 14 starts but he has been placed seven times including a Group One third in the Randwick Guineas last season.
