Talented galloper Largo Lad is out of tonight's Listed JRA Cup (2040m) at Moonee Valley.
Trainer David Hayes was keen to see the big, striding galloper over the extra journey after two runs from a spell but was found to have a slight cough this morning.
Vet tests confirmed the gelding had signs of mucus in his lungs and has been scratched as a precaution.
That leaves stablemate
Anamato to fly the flag for the stable in the race and Hayes is confident she can run well.
“It's as good a JRA as I've seen for a while but she gets up to her pet distance,” Hayes told Sport 927.
The mare, a Group 1 winner over 2000m, is a $17.00 chance with Sportingbet while Largo Lad was at $10.00.
Hayes has two runners engaged in the other feature on the night, the Group 2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) for three-year-olds.
All American will start one of the fancied runners as he gets to a longer trip while
Wookah will also appreciate the longer journey.
Hayes said he has been waiting for a long time to get All American to the mile and is confident he can show his best tonight, while Wookah will be much better suited over the longer races in the spring and was heading towards the Victoria Derby.
Sportingbet has All American at $5.50 while Wookah is a $15.00 chance.
Hayes has won the race twice already with Churchill Downs in 2006, on protest, and Blevic back in 1994.
