大摩, 白德民論「爆冷」
Trainer John Moore and jockey Darren Beadman have rated Viva Pataca “better than ever” for his coming season that will see him do all his racing in Hong Kong.
Viva Pataca has begun his build up to the HK$20 million Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin on December 14 and Moore says the STanley Ho-owned gelding has never looked better.
“He came back into work at the end of July and has now had three gallops,” said Moore.
“We are not going anywhere this year--he's staying here and being specifically targeted for the Hong Kong Cup.
“Last year, the Cup was the one that got away.
"He was held up in a pocket and rushed to the line to be beaten a nose.
"This year that's the race he has been set for, and that's the race we want to win."
Viva Pataca will resume in the Sha Tin Trophy on October 26 and will also run in the International Cup Trial on November 16 before the HK Cup.
"I've never had him so well at this time of the year,” the trainer said.
"Darren agrees. He's very happy with the horse.”
Viva Pataca, who has won 13 races, was second to Sun Classique in the Sheema Classic over 2400m in Dubai in March.
