「凱旋門大賽」將成為全球最高獎金草地賽事
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe will become the world’s richest thoroughbred turf race following a five-year deal between France Galop and the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club.
Stakes for Europe’s greatest race have been doubled to AU$6.7 million, taking it past the $5.4 million Japan Cup and the $5.1 million Melbourne Cup in the international prizemoney standings.
"The Arc, already recognised worldwide as the best quality race with the highest rating over the last five years, will definitely reach, thanks to this partnership, the first place among international sporting events, in all disciplines," Louis Romanet, Director General of France Galop said.
The agreement is expected to help promote the development of Qatar’s fledging thoroughbred industry.
It follows a recent announcement to stage a $1 million international thoroughbred race at a new racetrack in Qatar to coincide with the 2009 Dubai World Cup meeting.
