FRANKIE Dettori is in line to ride Getaway in the Arc after picking up the mount in Sunday's Grand Prix de Deauville. Dettori has won the Arc three times already, with Lammtarra (1995), Sakhee (2001) and Marienbard (2002).

The Andre Fabre-trained Getaway is a best-priced 20-1 for the Arc, and Dettori's agent Ray Cochrane said on Friday: “We have nothing about for the Arc and Getaway would be a good ride. I certainly wouldn't want to change him.”

Fabre could employ Dettori more regularly in 2009 given that he will be training principally for Sheikh Mohammed next year after selling his yard to the Sheikh.

Getaway, who is owned by Manduro's owner Baron Georg von Ullmann, began the season with an impressive victory in the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket and has since been fifth in both the Coronation Cup and Grand Prixde Saint-Cloud.               
On Sunday he will face seven rivals in the Group 2 Grand Prix ,when he will have the German-trained Sommertag as a pacemaker.

Stephane Pasquier normally rides Getaway but he could be claimed by Khalid Abdullah for the Arc, so Fabre has put him on Candy Gift for Sunday's race, and he appears to have plenty on his plate.

The going yesterday at Deauville was good, with the forecast for hot and sunny weather at the weekend.
