TRINCOT, who captured the Group 2 Prix d'Harcourt earlier thismonth, is on his way to be trained in Newmarket after he was purchased by Godolphin.

The four-year-old colt, winner of the Prix Dollar last year, stepped up markedly on his first start of the year when recording a comfortable three lengths victory over The Bogberry and last year's Prix du Jockey-Club winner Vision d'Etat.

Trainer Philipe Demercastel nominated the Prix Ganay as the son of Peintre Celebre's next start but that option is less likely to be taken up following his recruitment to Saeed Bin Suroor's team.

Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford confirmed the purchase of Trincot who has won five of his 16 starts, including three Group race victories.

"He is arriving tomorrow," he said. "We don't have any plans for him. I think he has got an entry in the Prix Ganay but I think that is probably very unlikely."

Trincot, an easy winner of the Group 2 Prix d'Harcourt at Longchamp last month, is set to make his debut for Godolphin in the Group 1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica at the Capannelle, Rome,on Sunday.

The son of Peintre Celebre is the only British or Irish candidate among the 19 horses still engaged at the penultimate declaration stage for this 1m2f contest.

Selmis, a six-length winner of a Group 3 event on his favoured soft surface last month, looks the pick of the home team while Germany is represented by the five-time Pattern winner, Prince Flori, who is currently banned from racing in France having twice refused to enter the stalls there, and lastNovember's shock Premio Roma winner, Estejo.

Godolphin may also run Khor Dubai, a winner at Newmarket on his most recent appearance in October, in a Listed race on the supporting card.
