The unbeaten New Approach is unlikely to take his chance in the Vodafone Derby at Epsom on June 7.

Jim Bolger is instead favouring a crack at the major races in his homeland, with the Irish Guineas and the Curragh Derby at the forefront of his mind.

"We're going to take it step by step but Sheikh Mohammed, Princess Haya and (bloodstock advisor) John Ferguson have left the horse's programme to me," said Bolger.

"After he runs at Newmarket (in the stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas), we'll see how that goes and make a decision from there.

"But I would be more keen to go to the Irish Guineas with him and then to the Irish Derby."

New Approach was Stan James' 4-1 favourite for the Epsom Derby but has been deleted from their ante-post lists.

"It's not that I'm shying away from Epsom, but I've not won the Irish 2000 Guineas before and I'd like to win it," added Bolger.

The Galileo colt was last season crowned champion juvenile after his National Stakes triumph was supplemented by a gritty victory in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.

New Approach will this year run in the colours of Princess Haya of Jordan after he was bought privately by Sheikh Mohammed.
