Aidan O'Brien's Royal Ascot team is beginning to take shape, with dual 2000 Guineas victor Henrythenavigator heading up the squad.

The three-year-old, who had his form boosted further still by the Derby victory of New Approach, is heading for the St James's Palace Stakes.

O'Brien said: "Henrythenavigator is well and the plan is to run him in the St James's Palace Stakes.        

"When running him in the Derby was ruled out, the Ascot race looked the obvious next step for him."

O'Brien saddled a 1-2-3 in the race last year with Excellent Art leading home the trio.

Yeats, a veteran in Ballydoyle terms at the age of seven, is on course to bid for a third successive Ascot Gold Cup.

"Another Gold Cup bid with Yeats has always been the plan, and that is what we are looking at," said O'Brien.        


"Septimus is also in the race, but he hasn't had a run this year and, while he is in work, we are not sure about plans for him just yet.

"Duke Of Marmalade is being aimed at the Prince Of Wales's and we are looking at running Haradasun in the Queen Anne Stakes. Astronomer Royal and US Ranger are intended runners in the Golden Jubilee Stakes," he told the Racing Post.
