NEW APPROACH will not be asked to contest next Saturday's Coral-Eclipse Stakes after being ruled out of Sunday's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby due to injury.
Coral had installed the Vodafone Derby winner as its 4-7 favourite for the Eclipse, but Bolger today insisted that Princess Haya's Epsom Classic hero will not be back on a racecourse in time for the Sandown test.
He said: "At this stage I don't know anything about plans, but he definitely won't be running next Saturday."
Bolger said early this morning: "New Approach will not be running in the Irish Derby. He is lame on his near hindleg and has not responded to treatment. We will be commencing further investigation tomorrow which will involve x-rays and scans of the whole area.
"It is very disappointing for Princess Haiya, Sheikh Mohammed, my family, my team at Coolcullen and the horse's host of enthusiastic fans. I feel for all of them."
