Phoenix Tower 因傷退役
PHOENIX TOWER has been retired with immediate effect, after scans this morning have shown a small tendon tear, which has been deemed "an unacceptable risk," in a press release issued by Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah.
The Henry Cecil trained four-year-old was due to run in the Group 1 Emirate Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday October 18.
Grimthorpe added: "Obviously it is disappointing as we were really looking forward to the weekend and he would have had a great chance.
"He was in really good form and it is a real shame as if ever a horse deserved to win a Group 1 it was him.
"The decision has just been made this morning to retire him so we haven't got any further than that at this stage.
"We will have to have a chat about where he will stand at stud but nothing has been decided on that yet."
