Spanish Moon(西國明月) 在英國本土遭禁賽至少六個月
Connections of Spanish Moon, already aggrieved that he was not given another chance to go in the stalls for the Stanjames.com Jockey Club Stakes, suffered another blow when they learned he will not be able to race again in Britain for at least six months.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained five-year-old was vying for favouritism in the Group 2 contest on the strengthof his second in the Sheema Classic but refused to go in the stalls. As it was his third such refusal in 12 months he is not allowed to take a stalls test for six months and so will miss races like the Coronation Cup and the Hardwicke Stakes. He can, however, race abroad.
Chief stipendiary steward William Nunneley said: "Our ban only applies to this country. We are not suspending the horse, but until he does a stalls test he can't run here, and he can't do a stalls test for six months.
Teddy Grimthorpe, representing owner Khalid Abdullah, felt Spanish Moon should have been given another chance when the others were in the stalls, and said: "It was a Group 2 and there were only four runners. I know there are time issues, but he was a key part of the race and it's disappointing for punters, not to mention the owner."
Looking ahead, he said: "We'll just have to take him to countries where they want him."
