Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and Prix de l’Opera to be simulcast for betting
30/09/2014
The Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast for betting the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the Prix de l’Opera from Longchamp Racecourse in Paris on Sunday, 5 October. The first simulcast race starts at 9:45 pm.
The finest of the world’s middle distance horses will once again gather for France’s annual autumn showpiece – the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1 2400m for 3yo+ colts, fillies and mares). Three-year-olds have come up trumps in nine of the last 11 runnings and will be strongly represented this year with three outstanding entries in Taghrooda, Ectot and Avenir Certain. The older generation will be led by the Japanese trained Just A Way, the current leader of the LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings, and defending champion Treve, who is bidding to become the first horse to win the Arc back-to-back since 1978.
The Prix de l’Opera (G1 2000m for 3yo+ fillies and mares), despite being a supporting race on Arc Day, is always a contest of high quality. The winner of this race will earn an automatic invitation to the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf and the top finishers are often regulars in our LONGINES Hong Kong International Races in December.
Final declarations with barrier draws for both races will be available late evening on Friday, 3 October at the Jockey Club’s website.
