New Approach下一目標 - 5月24日愛爾蘭2000堅尼
New Approach, who lost his unbeaten record in the stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas, has shown no ill-effects from his narrow defeat.
Jim Bolger's chestnut, the champion two-year-old, made a bold effort to make all the running in the first Classic of the season but went down by a nose to his compatriot, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Henrythenavigator.
Like his conqueror, New Approach will head for the Irish equivalent on May 24 and Bolger said: "The horse returned home safely and is in very good form. He ate up and had a walk around. It will be onwards and upwards.":jjjj:
Raven's Pass is in similar good health having finished fourth from an initially unpromising position at the back of the field.
A trip to Royal Ascot beckons for John Gosden's colt, with the Newmarket trainer reporting: "He's come out of the race in great order and remains on course for the Jersey Stakes."
Fireside was found to have struck into himself when a well-beaten last in the colts' Classic. The Peter Chapple-Hyam-trained colt - owned by a syndicate including Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson - had attracted plenty of each-way support on the strength of two highly-promising runs as a juvenile.
However, he gave his supporters little reason for optimism from halfway and finished 34 lengths behind the winner.
"Through pulling too hard he struck into himself and bruised his hind fetlock," said Harry Herbert, racing manager for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.
"He's OK, but it was very disappointing after the build-up and we thought he had a decent each-way chance. Peter will try to get him to relax and to race properly. That was the Guineas, we'll regroup and he may go for a handicap or a Listed race next."
