South African riding star Jeff Lloyd faces another extended time out of the saddle after suffering a foot injury at Rosehill on Saturday.

Lloyd fears he could be sidelined for more than a month after breaking a bone in his foot in a pre race mounting yard accident.

Lloyd was dislodged from the flighty first starter Chordata but was still able to ride the youngster in the first race.

However his injuries became evident after the race and he stood down from riding for the remainder of the day.

It is the second enforced spell for Lloyd this summer as he was severely injured in a race fall at Rosehill on December 10 that kept him out of the saddle for more than a month.

Lloyd' manager Bryan Haskins confirmed on Sunday that the senior jockey had a fractured a bone.

"It isn't good at this time of year," Haskins said yesterday.

"Hopefully, it won't keep him out for too long."

Lloyd will be racing to recover in time to ride AJC Derby winner Nom Du Jeu when he returns to Sydney next month.

Nom Du Jeu will resume in New Zealand on Saturday and is scheduled to be in Sydney for the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes on March 7.

Noel Harris will ride Nom Du Jeu at Te Rapa this weekend but Lloyd is booked to renew his association with the four-year-old in Sydney.

* SOUTH African Paul Whitmore, winner of more than 1300 races and a premiership in Mauritius, is planning to move to Australia.

Whitmore has applied for a visa and is looking at basing himself in a NSW country centre.

Whitmore has been riding for more than 20 years and has spent six years of his career in Mauritius as well as successful stints in Qatar, Bahrain and Dubai.

He has ridden 1367 winners and is currently linked to to champion trainer Charles Laird in South Africa.
