Delegator:

Brian Meehan's 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes runner-up Delegator has been snapped up to join Godolphin.

The son of Dansili found only Sea The Stars too strong in May's Newmarket Classic and was just a neck behind Mastercraftsman at Royal Ascot.

Godolphin's racing manager Simon Crisford said on Godolphin's website: "Delegator is top class and we are very excited to have acquired him.

"There are no plans at the moment but we will look forward to seeing him racing later in the season and next year as well."

Meehan told his website: "Delegator has been a marvellous horse for us and it has been a privilege to train him for Mrs Poilin Good.

"We wish Godolphin the very best of luck with him in the weeks and months ahead."


Evasive:

GODOLPHIN have moved to bolster their three-year-old squad by purchasing Evasive from owner-breeders Cheveley Park Stud.

The Elusive Quality colt, formerly in the care of Sir Michael Stoute, has raced twice this season.

He followed up his sixth behind Sea The Stars in the Stanjames.com 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket with a three-and-a-half length fourth to Mastercraftsman in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Plans for the two-time winner, who is entered in the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on July 10 and BGC Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on July 29, have yet to be confirmed.

Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said last night: "We're looking forward to campaigning him later in the season, and next year."

Evasive landed two of his three starts as a two-year-old, culminating in a half-length victory in the Group 3 Mountgrange Stud Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury.

This season, Godolphin have had just five winners from 48 three-year-old runners in Britain.

Ascot 賽期中 G2 瑪麗皇后錦標冠軍 Jealous Again

Jealous Again, five-length winner of the group II Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, has been sold to Godolphin and will be shipped back to England over the weekend to prepare for upcoming stakes.

While the other horses trained by Wesley Ward that competed at Royal Ascot were out on the track at Monmouth Park for the first time June 29, Jealous Again remained in her stall after being vetted by Godolphin. She was then transferred to Tom Albertrani’s barn at Monmouth after the deal was finalized to await her departure to England, where she will join Saeed bin Suroor’s stable.

“There are certain 2-year-olds of mine, from the time we start breaking them that I try to separate from the others,” Ward said.

“The ones who are early developers and speed-oriented, we want to focus on getting the most out of them early, and possibly sell them  so you can keep playing the game. She was one of those. She always had good early speed, but she made a little noise. When we switched to a figure-8 bridle it made all the difference in the world, and we were confident bringing her to Ascot because we knew she’d be getting more air.”

Jealous Again, a daughter of Trippi – Chi Sa, by Bold Ruckus who was bred in Florida by Harold J, Plumley, was owned by Ward in partnership with Mitch Dutko, Ron Brewer, and R. Abrams.  Ward purchased her at the Ocala Breeders Sales Company.’s August yearling sale for $30,000.

After breaking her maiden by 11 1/4 lengths in her career debut at Keeneland, she finished second to stablemate Aegean in the Kentucky Juvenile Stakes (gr. III). In the Queen Mary, she burst to the lead and kept increasing her margin, winning by five lengths, becoming the first American-trained horse to win a group stakes at Royal Ascot.

LONG LASHES JOINS GODOLPHIN

Long Lashes, winner of her only start to date in the Listed Ballygallon Stud Stakes at the Curragh on June 26, has joined the Godolphin stable after being purchased from her previous owners, the McElroy Syndicate.

There are no immediate plans for the two-year-old Rock Hard Ten filly but, in the long term, she will be aimed at the UAE Guineas and UAE Oaks at Meydan in 2010.

Atomic Rain, winner of the Listed Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park on July 11, has been purchased privately by Godolphin from George & Lori Hall.

Atomic Rain finished fourth in the Grade One Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct in early April and was also runner-up in the Grade Two Remsen Stakes, at the same track, on his only start as a juvenile.

Immediate plans for the three-year-old Smart Strike colt are undecided but he will be campaigned at Meydan in 2010.

Godolphin’s Racing Manager, Simon Crisford said: “We have purchased Atomic Rain to race in Dubai this winter but we will make a decision shortly with regard to his more immediate future.”

CHABAL, runner-up in the Group 1 Ladbrokes.com Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at the Curragh last month and favourite for the Jumeirah Dewhurst Stakes on Saturday, has been bought by Godolphin.

He is the second notable purchase by Godolphin, who also recently bought the National Stakes winner and Stanjames.com 2,000 Guineas favourite Kingsfort out of Kevin Prendergast's yard.

When asked about the sale, the colt's trainer Jim Bolger said on Monday: "I can confirm that Chabal has been sold and that he will be running for me for the last time in the Dewhurst on Saturday.

"He has been bought by Sheikh Mohammed and will be racing for Godolphin."

Chabal will be attempting to give Bolger a fourth consecutive win in the Dewhurst following Teofilo, New Approach and Intense Focus.

Sheikh Mohammed has a history of purchasing Bolger-trained Dewhurst hopes with a half share in New Approach being bought before his win, while Teofilo was bought to stand as a stallion following his victory in 2006.
