GALIKOVA looks unlikely to be seen in Britain this season as connections focus on plotting a return path towards the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Freddy Head was present at Compiegne yesterday to watch last season's Prix Vermeille heroine pull clear of two work companions in a racecourse gallop. Galikova is due to make her seasonal debut in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on Sunday week but is unlikely to take up her engagement in next month's Betfair King George at Ascot.
"She'll be campaigned very sparingly, with her principal aim being the Arc," Head revealed. "After the Grand Prix we might wait for the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville in August and then the plan would be the Vermeille, followed by the Arc."
Galikova finished runner-up to Golden Lilac in last season's Prix de Diane.
Eighteen fillies stood their ground after yesterday's first forfeit stage for this year's renewal of the French Classic on Sunday, with French 1,000 Guineas winner Beauty Parlour remaining on course in her attempt to complete the same Classic double as Golden Lilac.
Aidan O'Brien has four engaged headed by Kissed, who was a late withdrawal from the Oaks because of fears about the ground being too firm. Chantilly will race on soft ground today.
