Manighar out for the spring
Peter Moody's spring stocks received a huge blow with top weight-for-age galloper Manighar to undergo knee surgery and ruled out of the remainder of the 2012 spring racing carnival.
Moody advised Racing Victoria stewards Manighar was found to have swelling after a light workout at Caulfield on Thursday.
The imported galloper will undergo arthroscopic surgery before heading to the spelling paddock.
"Trainer advised out for spring - knee injury," a Racing Victoria stewards' release said.
Manighar's scratching from Saturday's Group I Caulfield Stakes (2000m) has seen TAB shorten Ocean Park's quote into $1.55 with Sincero firming to $4.80.
Meanwhile, the David Vandyke-trained Lamasery is also off to the paddock after finishing fifth in the Group I Metropolitan last Saturday at Randwick.
Vandyke told Racing NSW stewards that Lamasery "has suffered an injury and will now be spelled".
