Winner | Kirramosa | Raced in fifth place facing the breeze, some 10 lengths off the lead at halfway. Crept closer passing the 600m and was poised to challenge into the the straight. Lengthened gamely and joined Zanbagh and Solicit 250m out, edging home in a driving finish in the final strides. |
Second | Zanbagh | She began well and then settled a clear second, some five lengths off Solicit before halfway. Chased along into the home straight and drew alongside Solicit 300m out, fighting on determinedly when pressed on her outside by Kirramosa, bumped 100m out and fighting on bravely to the line. |
Third | Solicit | Given a kick out of the barrier and she jumped into the bridle. Went out six lengths clear at halfway and still clear into the home straight. Gave a kick and she was still in front 200m out before being joined on her outside by Zanbagh and Kiirramosa. Stayed on very bravely to just miss in a run full of merit. |
The pace | N/A | Despite Solicit leading clearly this was a slow time, 2:40.64, the third slowest time in the last 16 years. The last 600m completed in 35.30. |
The track | N/A | Upgraded to Good (3), winners are coming from all sections but jockeys are beginning to race away from the inside. |
Market | N/A | Kirramosa opened at $2.80, eased to $3 and then firmed to start the $2.70 favourite. Zanbagh opened $5 and eased to start $7. Solicit opened $11 and stayed there throughout betting. |
Future | Zanbagh | Zanbagh has made rapid progress at her past three starts. She is not the strongest sort, if she can furnish over the Spring she could be a major player in the Autumn. |
