Major sire Kingmambo, who has missed breeding time beforehand because of a neurological problem, is expected to return to the breeding shed this weekend or the first part of next week after being out of action for a week. He stands for $250,000 at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky.:loveliness:
“It's the same thing that has happened to him off and on,” Farish said. “He got off to a good start at stud before his back started giving him problems. We had X-rays taken to double check to make sure it wasn’t something else that we didn’t know about. He turned up fine. It will be up and down as the season progresses, but we feel he’ll do well. His fertility remains excellent.”
Kingmambo, who is booked to 60 mares, covered 65 mares in each of the last two breeding seasons. The 18-year-old son of Mr. Prospector out of the Nureyev mare Miesque has sired 73 stakes winners.
