ANDRE FABRE'S Thewayyouare, initially thought to be a candidate for the Vodafone Derby, will stay at home to contest the French equivalent six days earlier instead.
Fabre has not won the Prix du Jockey-Club since 1997 with Peintre Celebre but remains without a victory in the Derby.
Thewayyouare looked the right sort of candidate as he landed his last four starts as a juvenile, including the Group 1 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud, and fared promisingly on his return in the French 2,000 Guineas to take sixth, beaten just under five lengthsby Falco.
He is owned by Sean Mulryan, whose racing manager Herve Barjot said: "The plan is to go for the Jockey-Club on June 1.
"He will be more familiar with the track and stepping up from a mile to a mile and a half makes a huge distance. The Jockey Club distance is only half that. Also, running in France is easier for us and the horse."
