On the same day that Ballack gave him a new Australian stakes winner, former shuttler Montjeu joined in the Royal Ascot action by providing the winner of the G2 Hardwicke Stakes (2400m).
Macarthur, from the Gone West mare Out West became the latest winner for the Ballydoyle team in scoring a neck win over the Danehill runner Multidimensional.
Macarthur is a full brother to the English Derby winner Motivator.
The four-year-old had previously run third to Soldier Of Fortune in the G1 Coronation Cup two weeks earlier.
Macarthur was supported to win last year's English Derby but after running third in the G2Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial, he missed the classic through minor injury.
Montjeu also had a Group 3 winner in France last week, when Montmartre (ex Artistique, by Linamix) took out the Prix Du Lys (2400m) for three-year-olds at Longchamp.
Montjeu is the sire of Group 3 Tattersalls Cup winner Ballack – a winner on protest on Saturday – from his southern hemisphere matings.作者:
