Adelaide Cup winner Lacey Underall has been retired and is likely to visit Haradasun in her first season at stud.
Trainer Dan O'Sullivan said the rising six-year-old daughter of Desert Sun was suffering from “wear and tear” and connections had made the decision to retire her.
Lacey Underall won this year's G2 Adelaide Cup after being rated most unlucky when second to Gallic a year earlier in the same race when lodging an unsuccessful protest.
In all, Lacey Underall won five races from 45 starts and $487,000 in earnings.
She was a $30,000 purchase for owner Adam Palmer at the 2004 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale.
Lacey Underall, who was bred by Eliza Park, is from the Bluebird mare Flirted, who is a half-sister to South Australian Group 3 winner Staaraq.
She is one of 29 stakes winners for the Green Desert stallion Desert Sun, who again lines up on the Eliza Park roster in 2008.
Desert Sun is now starting to make his mark as a broodmare sire, with one of his daughters – Komplete Kaos – providing this year's G1 T.J. Smith winner Rockdale (Danroad).
His most famous daughter, Sunline, is yet to make a mark with her progeny on the racetrack, but she has produced a $2million Zabeel yearling colt.
Haradasun stands at Coolmore Australia for a fee of $55,000 in 2008, his debut year.
