Aidan O'Brien's astonishing strength-in-depth has been underlined by Ballydoyle's 44 entries for the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on October 25.

O'Brien trains both Rip Van Winkle and Mastercraftsman, which dispute Stan James 2000 Guineas favouritism for next year; both are entered.

Black Bear Island is another interesting Ballydoyle possible among the 159 total entries.

Godolphin have had another quiet year but they have nine potential runners; Henry Cecil, who has won the race ten times, has two possible runners in On Our Way and Wingwalker.

Sir Michael Stoute has six entries, including Sandown maiden scorer Zacinto. Queen's Chesham Stakes winner Free Agent is another possible runner.
