Phoenix Tower could try to gain that elusive first Group One win in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket in October.
The Henry Cecil-trained four-year-old has been admirably consistent at the highest level this season but without success.
Prince Khalid Abdullah's colt has finished second in Group One races on his last four starts, the latest coming in the Juddmonte International at Newmarket on Saturday when he split Duke Of Marmalade and New Approach.
Connections have ruled out a possible rematch with those two in the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday week, preferring to wait a further six weeks for the Champion Stakes much nearer home.
"I would think he won't go to Ireland. We will look to the Champion Stakes at Newmarket," said the owner's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe.
"He ran a super race on Saturday and he's fine."
Phoenix Tower, who made a winning start to the campaign in the Group Three Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket in April, was prominent in the ante-post betting for the Irish Champion Stakes at prices varying from 5-1 to 10-1.作者:
