Tuesday, 2 September 2008: A trip to Melbourne for the $3 million Tatts W.S. Cox Plate is looming for New Zealand's latest weight-for-age star Fritzy Boy.

Trainer Alby McGregor is now looking seriously at a Cox Plate plan following the decisive win by Fritzy Boy in last Saturday's G1 Mudgway Stakes (1400m) at Hastings.

Labelled the wonder galloper from Wairarapa, Fritzy Boy has built the imposing record of seven wins ands three placings from only 12 starts.

Fritzy Boy is set to progress through the next two legs of the Hawke's Bay Triple Crown at Hastings before McGregor commits to a Melbourne trip.

"We'll take it one step at a time, but if he was to win another of the Group Ones at Hastings, I will certainly be sitting down and discussing our Cox Plate options," said MacGregor.

Fritzy Boy has been beaten only once in his last seven starts when third to C'Est La Guerre in the New Zealand Derby in March.

The four-year-old will have his next start at Hastings in the G1 Stoney Bridge Stakes (1600m) at Hastings on September 20 where new rivals may include the New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless.

The third leg of the Hastings treble is the $2 million Kelt Capital Stakes (2000m) on October 4.

Boundless showed she was on target for her big spring goals with an impressive first-up win over 1200m at Tauranga on Saturday at her first start since she lost the AJC oaks at Randwick in a photo to Heavenly Glow.

She also is set for the Kelt Stakes, where victory would make her the third successive NZ Oaks winner after Legs and Princess Coup to win the Hastings showpiece as a 4YO.

Trainer Stephen McKee said Boundless would have her lad-up to the Kelt Stakes in either the Stoney Bridge Stakes or the Evans Classic (1600m) at Pukekohe on September 21.

Boundless is set to travel to Melbourne after the Kelt Stakes for the Caulfield Cup on October 18.
