The Breeders' Cup remains the plan for Henrythenavigator although his Santa Anita target has yet to be determined.
The four-time Group One winner suffered his second successive defeat on Saturday when beaten by Raven's Pass in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, but he has come out of the race in good order and Aidan O'Brien is happy to send him to America for the Breeders' Cup.
"We were very happy with him at Ascot. Everything went wrong from the moment we got up in the morning," O'Brien told Racing UK.
"We had a five and a half hour delay and he only got to the track a short time before.
"The ground was probably a little bit loose on top. We always felt with Henry he is a very fast horse and when the ground gets slow he is not able to get up on his toes."
O'Brien has the option of running the Kingmambo colt in either the Breeders' Cup Mile or Classic, but he has yet to make a decision with Duke Of Marmalade another possible for the Classic.
"We will look forward to the next day with him. We would love to be there (the Breeders' Cup). He has come out of the race well," the Ballydoyle handler continued.
"He has a choice of the Classic or the Mile and with the Breeders' Cup on a new surface it (the Classic) is a definite possibility for him.
"He's very solid and gone very laid-back, and takes everything in his stride now. He's very professional and switches off and relaxes.
"He could get beyond a mile but you're never sure until you do it. He looks like a horse who could come home over a longer trip."作者:
