Murphy's Cash, the most expensive yearling sold to date by Saintly's half-brother Aucash, broke through for her maiden win at Ballarat today.

The three-year-old filly is a half-sister to former boom juvenile Murphy's Blu Boy (G3 Blue Diamond Preview), being from the Archregent mare Murphy's Arch, who in turn is a half-sister to dual G2 winner I Am A Ripper.

Murphy's Cash, who is prepared by Lee Freedman and was having her sixth start today, is a $150,000 graduate of the 2007 Magic Millions and is the only offspring of Aucash to reach six figures at sale.

Aucash was a $1million graduate of the 1999 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, being by Danehill from the Sir Tristram mare All Grace.

He raced successfully in Hong Kong and is one of the very few million dollar yearlings to have recouped his purchase price in prizemoney earnings.

Samantha Miss may well join him in the next few weeks.

However, Aucash has failed to meet commercial appeal at stud and after serving more than 100 mares in his debut season in 2003, his numbers have declined rapidly since, with only 18 and 5 mares covered in the past two seasons.

Murphy's Cash is his 19th individual winner from 53 runners to race, with his oldest progeny now four-year-olds.

Aucash's half-brother Saintly was one of the most popular horses to race in Australia in the 1990s.

Nicknamed the 'Horse from Heaven' the Bart Cummings trained chestnut won the Australian Cup as a three-year-old before earning Horse of the Year honours the following season (1996-97) with wins in the Cox Plate, Melbourne Cup and CF Orr Stakes at Group 1 level.

The Orr Stakes sadly turned out to be his final race start and despite a comeback attempt, he retired with earnings of $3.8million.
