Apache Cat is expected to help pull a big crowd at Cranbourne on Sunday where he'll have an exhibition track gallop prior to his attempt at international success in Hong Kong in December.

The multiple Group-1 winner will be a star attraction at the Cranbourne Cup day as he has been a centrepiece in the clubs spring carnival promotion.

It will be Apache Cat's first public outing since his commanding five-length win in the Group 1 Doomben 1000 during Queensland's Winter Carnival in May.

For Apache Cat, the exhibition gallop is an important step in a campaign which will see him target the Patinack Classic (1200m) at Flemington on November 8 and then the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin on December 14.

“He's always a little bit excitable in his first outing whether it be a trial or something of that nature so to come here on Sunday will be ideal,” Apache Cat's trainer Greg Eurell told Sport 927.

Eurell said Apache Cat's preparation has so far been faultless leading up to his international campaign.

“His work is fantastic, he's in very good health himself and he's right on target for his first up run here,” Eurell said.

“You always wonder after following a spell after they've had a good campaign whether they are going to come backing as well. I must say in his general well being the horse is as good as he's ever been.”

Apache Cat has fast become a popular racehorse throughout racing circles due to his unique appearance and his five-straight Group 1 wins.

An example of this popularity shown amongst the patrons at Cranbourne Turf Club according to club CEO Neil Bainbridge.

“There is a huge ground swell of local pride for 'The Cat' so the fact that he'll be on course on Sunday gives our patrons one of the few opportunities to see this champion thoroughbred up close, in preparation for what will hopefully become his sixth consecutive Group 1 win.”

Apache Cat will gallop between Race 2 (12:45pm) and Race 3 (1:30pm).
