JOHNNY MURTAGH is to replace Frankie Dettori aboard Sixties Icon in the Japan Cup in Tokyo on November 30.

Dettori, who won the 2006 St Leger on the son of Galileo, came in for some criticism from trainer Jeremy Noseda after the pair finished fifth behind Muhannak in the Breeders' Cup Marathon last time.

Murtagh,who will be going for his 22nd Group 1 win of the season, partnered Sixties Icon to Group 3 victories at Goodwood and Newbury in the summer.

Murtagh said: "I spoke to Jeremy last week and all being well I will ride Sixties Icon out there."
