Trainer Tracey Bartley is banking on a text book frontrunning ride from big-race jockey Jim Cassidy to get Sniper's Bullet home in the Group One Kingston Town Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

Sniper's Bullet lines up in the 1800-metre weight-for-age race having never won beyond 1400 metres.

But after coming within a short head of beating Gilded Venom over 1600 metres in the Railway Stakes on November 22, Bartley is confident that with Cassidy on board, last year's Stradbroke Handicap winner can control the speed of the race and be the horse to beat.

"I think the horse will get a soft lead and Jim will do the rest from there," Bartley said.

"The horse is flying and is so fit and if Jim controls the race in front I've got no doubt he can win."

Bartley said Sniper's Bullet had recovered well from his Railway Stakes run where he found it hard to get clear running in the closing stages when ridden by Michael Rodd.

"There's not much more we could have done, it was a great run," Bartley said.

"There won't be anywhere near as much pressure as there was the other day and I'll give the horse a bit of pace work during the week just to top him up and he'll be ready to fire again."

Cassidy was elated after receiving the call from Bartley last week and gets his chance to land his 100th Group One victory.

The New Zealand born hoop has been sitting on 99 Group One wins since 2006 after booting County Tyrone home in the Sydney Cup.

Cassidy finished second on Sniper's Bullet in the Group Two Sovereign Stakes (1200m) at Randwick last year.

The Kingston Town Classic was formerly known as the Fruit 'n' Veg Stakes, a race Cassidy won on St. Clemens Belle in 1999.
