2007 Caulfield Cup winner Master O’Reilly looks set for a tilt at the US$5m Dubai Sheema Classic (sponsored by Nakheel), following Danny O’Brien’s reconnaissance trip to Dubai last week.

The leading Aussie trainer visited the Nad Al Sheba facilities for the first time, and was suitably impressed to nominate three horses for the 2009 Dubai International Racing Carnival.

"Our (Australian) racing is really struggling now and some other spots around the world are going really well so you have to have a look at them," said the Flemington trainer.

"Our racing has been stagnant for the last five years and to keep your business going you have look overseas to get a better return for your owners.

"With the way the US dollar is, races over there are worth 50 per cent more than this time last year."

O’Brien also intends to send 2008 Caulfield Cup third Barbaricus for the Dubai Sheema Classic, a 2400-metre race run on turf on Dubai World Cup night on March 28.

He said Master O'Reilly would run in the Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on March 7 before being flown to Dubai, while Barbaricus would leave earlier for suitable lead-up races, along with Valedictum.

"Master O'Reilly will certainly run and we may take Barbaricus and Valedictum for some lead-up races," said O'Brien, who bids to follow in the footsteps of fellow Aussies Tony Vasil and Tony Noonan, who have plundered Dubai races.

"Barbaricus will probably head up there for the start of the carnival and have two or three lead-up runs into (the Sheema Classic) as his rating would allow him to do.

"It's a race that's no stronger than the Caulfield Cup if you go by recent years. It's on turf and early in the season for the Europeans.

"In the lead up to the World Cup meeting they have 10 weeks of racing and a lot of what we'd class as Listed or Group Three class races worth between $US150,000 to $US200,000 which is probably where Valedictum is now," O'Brien told AAP.

"He is probably a length short of the Group One races here and those were the races Tony Noonan's horses were very competitive in so he could go as a travelling companion for Barbaricus."

Noonan sent two horses to Dubai in 2007 with Benedetti winning two of his three starts there and Smart And Mighty one of his three appearances.

The Vasil-trained Elvstroem became the first Australian-trained horse to win in Dubai when he led all the way in the Dubai Duty Free (1777m) in 2005 with Nash Rawiller in the saddle.

Group One-winning veteran Valedictum finished sixth in his first appearance at the Dubai International Racing Carnival.

The Danny O'Brien-trained eight-year-old gelding finished just over six lengths from the winner Summit Surge in the 14-horse field in Thursday night's $US132,000 ($A202,205) Intikhab Trophy (1500m) on turf.

Valedictum settled midfield and was under pressure with 500m to go but ran on fairly in the straight, the Dubai Racing Club website reported.

"His run was quite competitive and he still has much improvement left in him, so we are happy with how he is progressing," O'Brien said.

Valedictum is likely to run again over 1500m or 1600m in two weeks.

Stablemate Barbaricus, who ran third to All The Good in last year's Caulfield Cup, will make his Dubai debut at Nad Al Sheba next Thursday night.

Caulfield Cup placegetter Barbaricus opens his Dubai campaign tonight with trainer Danny O'Brien hopeful of a bold showing

Barbaricus has attracted a lot of interest in Dubai and there are expectations about how he will perform on the turf.

The third placegetter in last year's Caulfield Cup raced in Melbourne in mid January before he was shipped to Dubai.

O'Brien has confident expectations for the four-year-old.

“He will improve for the run as he thrives on racing,” O'Brien reported.

“He has not raced for four weeks but he has settled in well and is pleasing on the gallops.

“The Dubai Sheema Classic on Dubai World Cup is his main target via Super Thursday.

“Mick (Kinane) has not sat on him but he is a straightforward horse and drawn wide we will probably have to race up with the pace.”

但 Trainer 都滿意隻馬的演出..隻馬仲會跑多2場作為熱身:tttt:

“He fought on really well until his fitness gave out and he paddled over the last furlong of the race.

Australian trainer Danny O'Brien has made his international breakthrough with a win by Valedictum in Dubai on Thursday night.

Valedictum , a Group winner in Australia, won a 1500m turf event at his second run at Nad Al Sheba.

Ridden by Td Durcan, Valedictum cross to the rails to settle midfield and took rails runs before running down the lader in the 100 metres.

Durcan was impressed by the win.

“His first run was a good one and we were hopeful of big run. He quickened well when I asked him," Durcan said.

O'Brien joins Tony Vasil and Tony Noonan as Australian trainers to have tasted success at the Dubai international carnival.

O'Brien also has his Caulfield Cup placegetter Barbaricus in Dubai for the carnival.

依然會用 Kinane...

對手開始增強..有 Oracle West, Cumani 訓練的 Presvis, 上場都可以的 Once More Dubai

相信仲會有進一步演出
