Trainer Mark Kavanagh has ruled out an Australian Guineas start for star three-year-old Whobegotyou, saying he had run out of time to get him fit enough to run in the Group One feature at Flemington on March 7.
Kavanagh faced a battle against time to get the Street Cry gelding ready for the $750,000 Guineas (1600m) after he had a delay in his preparation due to a foot abscess.
"He's in top order but we've missed a few gallops and we are a bit behind," Kavanagh said on Tuesday.
"But you may see him race in Sydney this prep."
TAB Sportsbet had had the Caulfield Guineas winner as doubtful for the Australian Guineas for some time but on Tuesday he was taken out of the market after Kavanagh's announcement.
Fravashi and Nicconi now share Guineas favouritism at $4.50.
Whobegotyou had been nominated for Saturday's Group Two Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield and was topweight with 58.5kg but won't run.
Kavanagh said Whobegotyou would instead trial at Werribee on Friday while stablemate, Group Three Carbine Club Stakes winner Dr Doute's, would run in the Autumn Stakes.
"He's (Whobegotyou) just not that race fit yet. First up at 1400 metres the others have all had runs under their belts and you just wonder whether that would flatten him.
"It's unfortunate he can't race in the Guineas but certainly there are other races for him in Sydney," Kavanagh said.
The chestnut, who has won five races and finished runner-up in two of his eight starts, hasn't raced since finishing second as odds-on favourite to Rebel Raider in the Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on November 1.
