RED ROCKS, Brian Meehan's Breeders' Cup winner, made a surprise return to Britain on Friday having spent the past nine months in the US with trainer Mark Hennig.
The winner of more than £1.5 million for Meehan, the six-year-old was back in his former box at Manton in Wiltshire.
"It's brilliant to have him here again, he was such a great performer for us over the years," said the trainer."I'm sure there is plenty left in the tank."
Red Rocks was trained by Meehan to win last summer's Grade 1 Man O'War Stakes at Belmont, where he toppled the odds-on Curlin, and, with Meehan's approval, he was transferred to Hennig by owner Paul Reddam because the horse has such a smart record in the US.
Apart from his 2006 triumph in the 2006 Breeders' Cup Turf, he was third in the corresponding race the following season at Monmouth Park. He raced on three occasions for Hennig, but finished well beaten.
Meehan said his first possible objective will be the Prix Ganay on April 26 at Longchamp.作者:
