AHMED AJTEBI, who shot to fame with a magnificent double on Dubai World Cup night, will captain the ‘Rest of the world' team in the Shergar Cup at Ascot on August 8.
Ajtebi is no stranger to success at Ascot after he partnered Regal Parade to victory in the Buckingham Palace Stakes at last year's Royal meeting, but his wins aboard Gladiatorus in the Dubai Duty Free and Eastern Anthem in the Sheema Classic rocketed him into the international spotlight.
Hiroyuki Uchida and Malesh Narredu will join Ajtebi in the team to compete in the annual jockeys' competition, won last year by the Europe team.
Nick Smith, Head of Communications and International Racing, said: "It's good to be able to unveil three new names on the Rest of the world team this year.
"Ahmed will be familiar to UK racegoers through his tremendous performances at the Dubai World Cup but they'll probably be surprised by the size of his fan club, which could be heard going absolutely wild all over Nad Al Sheba in March!"
