TARTAN BEARER, who was a late withdrawal from Tuesday's Juddmonte International at York after being found to be lame, is out for the season.
Connections of the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt, second to New Approach in last year's Derby and runner-up to stablemate Conduit in the King George at Ascot last time, did not elaborate on the nature of the injury.
Peter Reynolds of owners Ballymacoll Stud said: "He's out for the year. The injury is not life threatening but he will need six months off."
The son of Spectrum had been a top-priced 20-1 for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October.
