SILVER FROST has become the second of this year's French Classic winners to be retired midway through the season after injury brought the career of thePoule D'Essai des Poulains winner to a premature end.
The son of Verglas enjoyed his defining moment at Longchamp in May when carrying the colours of Harrogate-based owner John Cotton to victory in the French 2,000 Guineas.
Silver Frost then finished sixth to Le Havre, who is also now retired, in the Prix du Jockey-Club, before filling the same spot behind Goldikova in the Prix Jacques le Marois.
Trainer Yves de Nicolay said on Sunday: "He has sustained a hairline fracture to his near hind and he will not run again. It has not been decided which stud he will stand at next year."
