Demerit staked his claim as a Caulfield Guineas contender with a strong win on Saturday but may not take his place in the race.
The Peter Snowden-trained galloper overcame a tough run to score a dogged Guineas Prelude win at Caulfield on the weekend with his Caulfield Guineas odds shortening dramatically.
But Snowden, who saddles up pre-post favourite Denman for the race, is yet to decide whether to start Demerit or aim for a different race.
Snowden said Demerit might not be quite seasoned enough to match the likes of Denman in the Caulfield Guineas, having raced just three times.
Snowden was thrilled with the gutsy performance of Demerit in his win but feels this year's Guineas will be a strong version with even the well performed Denman needing to improve further.
Demerit could be freshened and saved for the Coolmore Stakes later in the carnival, according to Snowden.
Denman, on the other hand, will round off his Caulfield Guineas preparation in this weekend's Stan Fox Stakes at Randwick.
