Australian champion Weekend Hussler has been given a Timeform rating of 130, ranking him the equal eighth best horse in the world and among the elite of Australia's three-year-olds.
Dubai World Cup and Breeders' Cup winner Curlin tops the list at 134 with Cox Plate entrant Duke Of Marmalade from the Aidan O'Brien stable ranked the best on turf at 133.
Just below the pair is United States star three-year-old Big Brown on 132, the same rating as Papal Bull.
Super sprinter Apache Cat who has won five Australian Group Ones this year, also make the top 20 with a rating of 127, the same as last season's Australian Horse of the Year, Miss Andretti.
Weekend Hussler, the winner of six Group One races during the southern hemisphere season and four this year, is the favourite for Australasia's weight-for-age championship the Cox Plate and also for the Caulfield Cup.
The last Australian horse to hold a Timeform rating of 130 or better was champion stayer Might And Power who reached a high of 133 while the last three-year-old was Kingston Town who was rated 135 and also won six Group One races in his three-year-old season.
The 130 Timeform rating places Weekend Hussler in fifth place behind Tulloch (138), Kingston Town (135), Manikato (135) and Vain (134) as the highest-rated three-year-olds to have raced in Australia since the mid-1950s.
Among Weekend Hussler's Group One wins are victories against older horses in the Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket Handicap as well as the weight-for-age George Ryder Stakes.
He is scheduled to begin his four-year-old campaign in the JJ Liston Stakes in Melbourne on Saturday week.
