Golden Slipper Stakes favourite More Joyous showed she is ticking over sweetly towards her next race assignment with an easy barrier trial win at Randwick on Monday morning.
More Joyous , a dazzling winner of her first start at Rosehill last month, is set to have her next start in the Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill on February 28.
Today's trial was designed to give the More Than Ready-Sunday Joy filly more experience under race conditions after she raced greenly on debut.
More Joyous had only one trial before she raced at Rosehilll where she dwelt as the gates opened and then raced awkwardly for the first 500m before her rider Nash Rawiller got her up outside the leader.
Blake Shinn rode More Joyous in today's trial and reported that the filly did everything right as she strode to a comfortable two and a half lengths win over 800m in the slick time of 46.6 seconds, easily the quickest of three juvenile heats.
She jumped cleanly and was quickly in front, coasting as Shinn kept her three and four horses wide on the turn.
Waterhouse's crack Group One winner
Northern Meteor ran the fastest of all the 800m heats, clocking 46.4 seconds. He is booked to be shipped to Melbourne later this week to prepare for the Oakleigh Plate and Newmarket Handicap.
Waterhouse also won trials with
Ashikaga ,
Moonsong ,
Joku and
Academy Magic while her classy autumn carnival prospects
Faulconbridge ,
Rockwood and
Kingda Ka were placed in their 800m heats.
Waterhouse's runners at Randwick on Saturday will include

Electric Dreams (Widden Stakes),
Bhutane Dane (Royal Sovereign Stakes),
Manhattan Rain (Canonbury Stakes),
