BERLIN — Borussia Mönchengladbach supporters are being praised for taking a stand against hate messages from a minority of fans in the team’s match against Hoffenheim this weekend.

A few fans displayed abusive messages against Hoffenheim’s billionaire backer Dietmar Hopp in the Bundesliga game on Saturday, leading to a suspension in play. The game only continued after their actions were condemned by other supporters.

The fans shouted “Nazis out! Nazis out!” and forced the perpetrator to leave. He now faces police charges and a stadium ban.

The German FA fined Borussia Dortmund for 50,000€ due to a discriminating banner toward Hoffenheim's Dietmar Hopp. On top, there is a "probation" for Dortmund fans at Hoffenheim away games. If there is another incident, they will be banned until 2022 from Hoffenheim games.
