ROCK 'N' POP 今次幾大挑戰..
Rock 'n' Pop lines up in Saturday's feature event, the Group II Warwick Stakes (1400m).
The four-year-old was successful at Group I level in his homeland and finished runner-up behind Silent Achiever in the New Zealand Derby but hasn't been cited since recording a four-length eighth in the Rosehill Guineas in March.
"He just did a steady piece of work this morning but I was very happy with his attitude," Mark Newnham, who rides the galloper in trackwork, said.
"He's done plenty of work. He's going in there pretty fit."
Rock 'n' Pop has trialled twice ahead of his return, winning both times "in good fashion" but will have to contend with barrier 13 in Saturday's $175,000 event.
"They never go quick from that 1400-metre start at Warwick Farm," he said.
"I think people worry too much about barriers."
The galloper is being aimed at the Epsom Handicap on October 5 as "being a Fastnet Rock colt and a Group I winner in New Zealand" the stable "want to make him a Group I winner in Australia".
